ICANN 2021 Nominating Committee Announces Leadership Selections

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) 2021 Nominating Committee announced the selections for nine leadership positions today on the ICANN Website. Report shows that the committee received 116 completed applications during the application period from 25 January 2021 through 29 March 2021.

The Nominating Committee is charged with recruiting and selecting a portion of ICANN’s leadership. In doing so, the Nominating Committee is mandated to ensure that ICANN’s overall leadership is diverse in geography, culture, skills, experience, and perspective.

The following Candidates have been selected:

At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC)

Laura Margolis

Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) Council

Tatiana Tropina

Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council

Those selected will begin their terms after the ICANN72 Virtual Annual General Meeting, which runs from 23-28 October 2021. The Number of applicants from Africa increased from the fourth in role to second, across the globe.

The Chair of the Nominating Committee thanked the numerous applicants, encouraging them to continue participating. Its considered that such actions are a critical to ICANN’s mission. The Nominating Committee congratulates all the selected candidates, as the global digital village looks up to One World, One Internet.
